32 And he looked up at the window, and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” So two or three eunuchs looked out at him. 33 Then he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot. 34 And when he had gone in, he ate and drank. Then he said, “Go now, see to this accursed woman, and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.” 35 So they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 Therefore they came back and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; 37 and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here lies Jezebel.” (4 Kingdoms 9:30-37 [LXX]
What November the 5th meant.
As I’ve written before, as Gail and I were watching the election returns on November 5th, the excitement we felt was palpable. So palpable that we stayed up until 3:00am or so. (Ordinarily, I conk out at 10ish.) I had to go to work the next day but even though I had only three hours of sleep, I had a spring in my step as I worked my 9 hour shift.
I’m going to suggest that a majority of Americans felt the same way.
Why? Because it wasn’t merely an electoral victory –make that an electoral blowout–but a spiritual one. For the first time in a long time, it felt like a gigantic albatross had been removed from around our collective necks. An albatross which some have called the Jezebel spirit.
Or if you prefer, the cudgel that ordinary Americans were beaten down with for decades had slipped from the hands of our evil overlords. The spell of DEI (Didn’t Earn It) had been broken once and for all.
This spirit of oppression is named for Jezebel, the daughter of the King of Sidon, who was given in marriage to Ahab, King of Israel. As his queen, she took advantage of Ahab, who was given to bouts of depression and paralysis. She was the power behind the throne. Because of this, idolatry in the Northern Kingdom became preponderant and she drove many of the priests of Yahweh underground, replacing them with her own priests. Even Elijah, one of the greatest of prophets, was forced into exile and privation because he angered her.
But God has His ways. First, when the time was right, he used Elijah to destroy the priests of Baal. Then Ahab was killed in battle. Finally, when it was her turn to meet justice, God sent Jehu, a mighty warrior, to besiege the palace. She thought that her beauty would save her but Jehu was not beguiled by her last-minute makeover and he ordered her eunuchs to throw her out of a window.
So where am I going with all this? I mean, other than the fact that Jehu is Trump and we, the voters are the eunuchs?
Only here: the entire premise of cultural Marxism has been exposed for the lie that it is. Moreover, the infrastructure that supported it –the Fake News Industrial Complex–has likewise been exposed and laid bare for all to see. And here’s what’s especially delicious about what transpired on the fifth: only a minority of people believed this nonsense in the first place.
For years, decades even, most of us were under the impression that DEI was the prevalent orthodoxy of the Western hemisphere. I certainly was. If you were a straight, white, Christian man trying to make an honest buck working for Big Widgets, Inc, you were always looking over your shoulder, worrying about making a mistake or watching some unqualified person with a Lantix Studies degree jump ahead of you when promotions were handed out.
But like the Wicked Witch of the West who turned into dust with the help of a little water, so too did liberalism (and all its attendant insanities) crumble instantaneously into before our eyes.
But first, a little context.
Truth be told, I was ecstatic when Trump picked Senator J D Vance of Ohio to be his running mate. At barely forty years old, he’s wise beyond his years. Like a few others, he perceived that the present sociocultural narrative was unsustainable, which he distilled it down to a witty catch-phrase “childless cat ladies”.
In many precincts of the Right, this took off. The Left, in contrary fashion, tried to turn it against the Republican ticket. Taylor Swift, the “it girl” of 2024 made hay with it as did numerous women on Tik-Tok. To hear the pundits tell it, Vance had aroused a tremendous “Grrl boss” energy and the result would be millions of women would go to polls singing “I am Woman, Hear Me Roar!”
We were assured that on Election Day, the GOP would go down to an ignominious defeat. And the Left would continue to gain ground. No doubt in 2028, Big Conservative Inc would rewrite history and all political speeches would be about the heroism of the childless cat ladies who stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day. David French for his part would be writing essays entitled “The Conservative Case for Child Mutilation”.
The Patriarchy would finally be consigned to the ash heap of history.
Only it didn’t happen.
It turns out that there were more women concerned about the economy and the threat of nuclear war than there were women who worshiped at the altar of Roe v Wade. As we were warned by the Talking Heads on television, the so-called Gender Gap of 1984 was going to be resurrected. (For those of you too young to remember, the Evil Patriarch Reagan traversed the Gender Gap with a single bound and won that election with a 49 state super-majority.)
Trump made significant inroads among all demographic groups, especially white women. A case could be made that it was white women, with a great assist from black and Latino men who pushed him across the finish line. In any event, he not only won the Electoral College but a popular majority as well.
Hope springs eternal with a certain subset of this cohort: we are warned that they will go all Lysistrata on us and deprive us of their charms https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/beltway-confidential/3223300/leftist-abstinence-never-lasts-long/
The Return of the King
That being said, the battle is won but the war is far from over. Even when Aragorn took his throne there was still work to do. So too, with us. Trump won —decisively— but much work needs to be done.
As I write these words, Daniel Penny is still languishing in jail for the crime of saving innocents from a madman. This is nothing less than a travesty. Penny, a former Marine, is a hero. In a previous time, his actions on that bus would have been appreciated. The mayor would have given him a citation, maybe even a parade.
Why do I say this? Let me quote this perceptive observation from The Federalist:
Men like Penny create societies in which women can jog in their backyards without fear of being raped and murdered. They are the fathers, brothers, neighbors, and strangers whose presence silently enforces the understanding that evil will be punished and women and children will be protected.
They are the Todd Beamers of the world who step up to fight bad men when you’re stuck on a plane with suicide bombers and the cops can’t help you. Women silently scan for such men when they step onto planes and subway cars or walk down dark sidewalks, because they know those men are the ones to turn to if things go south.”https://thefederalist.com/2024/11/20/laken-riley-needed-a-daniel-penny/
We need no longer be in thrall to the false liberal narrative of manufactured minority grievances. The entire DEI albatross which we had worn across our necks and weighed us down was removed in one fell swoop.
Jezebel had fallen to her death, her corpse consumed by wild dogs. And the prophets of Baal who had previously propped her up (the corporate media) were likewise consigned to oblivion.
Why? Because reality always wins in the end. Always.

* 76 abortion facilities have closed since Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade *
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/76-abortion-facilities-have-closed-since-supreme-court-reversed-roe-v-wade/?utm_source=latest_news&utm_campaign=catholic
‘ Independent abortion facilities continue to close in the years following the reversal of Roe v. Wade, even in blue states that have few restrictions on the killing of innocent preborn children in the womb, according to a new report.
Since the reversal of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, 76 independent abortion facilities, meaning those not connected to Planned Parenthood or another national network, have shut their doors, according to The Guardian.
Eight were in pro-abortion states, according to The Guardian.
While there are still 363 independent facilities left that kill preborn babies, the reasons for the other closures could provide insights into pro-life strategies for shutting down the facilities.
“Essentially, we are charging about half of what it costs to provide the care [sic],” the director of a Georgia abortion facility told the media outlet. Georgia allows abortion until a heartbeat can be detected, around the sixth week of pregnancy.
“Our ability to maintain payroll and our operating expenses on an ongoing basis was really strained for a portion of 2024. We were sort of living paycheck to paycheck,” the director said.
The communications director for the so-called “Abortion Care Network” also said protesters play a role in squeezing abortion facilities, presumably by driving away women who might have come in to kill their baby.
“Whether it’s abortion bans or [pro-lifers] outside of the clinic or the financial challenges that come along with having to shift services, move a clinic, comply with new regulations – clinics have been under an enormous amount of financial pressure,” Jay Thibodeau, communications director for the abortion network, told The Guardian. “The relief that they need is not coming right now.”
A drop in donations is also contributing to fewer facilities. For example, the National Abortion Federation will only pay 30 percent of the cost for killing a baby – in some states, like Georgia, they were offering to pay the full cost so a woman could destroy the innocent human person in her womb.
Other stories illustrate that changes in funding can put enough financial pressure on facilities to reduce abortions, though not necessarily all of them.
In August, Planned Parenthood announced it would close four abortion facilities in New York over “financial and political challenges.” The Empire State allows abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and also spends millions of dollars so that women can abort their babies.
The abortion vendor blamed rising costs and an insurance reimbursement gap for its decision to close some of its facilities that kill innocent preborn babies.
“New York’s abortion access ecosystem is being pushed to the limit,” the CEOs of Planned Parenthood affiliates in New York wrote in early July, as previously reported by LifeSiteNews. “On top of inflation, [so-called] sexual and reproductive health care providers and patient support systems are grappling with compounding challenges: pandemic recovery, national staffing shortages, a dearth of abortion … providers in the state’s rural regions and a hostile political landscape that is driving up demand for abortion,” the CEOs wrote.
The pro-life movement must work to ensure all babies, no matter the circumstances of their conception or their gestational age, are protected from abortion.
The stories of financial pressures causing abortion facilities to close may further show the benefit of defunding Planned Parenthood of the hundreds of millions of dollars it receives every year from U.S. taxpayers.
While President Donald Trump said he wants abortion to be handled by the states and said he does not plan to protect women from dangerous abortion pills, members of his administration have shown an interest in preventing Planned Parenthood from receiving taxpayer dollars.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, for example, called for defunding Planned Parenthood in a Wall Street Journal op-ed laying out their plans for the Department of Government Efficiency.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson also said recently he wants to defund Planned Parenthood, and soon-to-be Vice President JD Vance has made similar statements.
“On the question of defunding Planned Parenthood, look, I mean, our view is we don’t think that taxpayers should fund late-term abortion,” Vance told the media after a rally in October.

”Because it wasn’t merely an electoral victory –make that an electoral blowout–but a spiritual one.”
The 2024 election was anything but a “blowout”. Trump wound up winning 1.6% more votes than Harris. It was the closest vote margin in all but three elections since 1900. As for “spiritual blowout” I guess each to his own on that one.
I agree with you on Penny. He reacted to a crazed man threatening innocent passengers. The fact that he was exonerated is not due to some systemic change, precipitated by the Nov 5th election, but what the “liberal” jurors of Manhattan decided. The same juror pool who found Trump guilty of all 34 counts.
“”The entire DEI albatross which we had worn across our necks and weighed us down was removed in one fell swoop “”
That DEI albatross as you call it, didn’t seem to keep White, Christian Men down on the economic scale. They are still the highest earners and hold 98% of CEO big company positions. If DEI was such an albatross, why hasn’t it affected their economic leadership? Rather, the white men that were losers, Rather, white men used DEI as an excuse for their ineptness.

A few points: First, white Americans are eclipsed by many non-white demographic when it comes to wealth. Nigerians and (sub-continental Indians) rank higher. In fact, the one American demographic that is not hyphenated, i.e. those from Appalachia and identify as “American” on census forms, are at or near the bottom of the scale.
Second, the election was a blow-out in the sense that Trump won against overwhelming odds. In addition, his coattails resulted in a +4 GOP pickup in the Senate and keeping a House majority. The increase in GOP on the state and local levels is significant as well. This does not include Democrat-to-Republican switches.
bob karp says
You are correct as far as hyphenated Americans having higher income than long time, white Americans. And that’s not because of DEI. It because of hard work. As a matter of fact, some universities want to limit the number of Asians in their student rolls. We’ve all heard the stories of Indian parents pushing their kids relentlessly to become doctors. I can not find the last time a non Indian won the spelling contest. Indians head many corporations. Is that due to DEI? What about Vivek, Halley and yes even Harris, having attained the higher rungs of their professions. .
You’re now saying that Trump “won against overwhelming odds and that’s why its a blow out.” As much as we like, we can’t redefine “blow out” when it fits our narrative.
Moreover, how was he the underdog? Why were the odds against him? The betting markets and the Economist were giving him a 75% chance of winning. As for the coat tails, its nothiruled fong unusual for the incumbent party to lose both houses. Especially one that has r 16 years out of the last 20.
