Folks, I don’t have to tell you that it’s been an interesting couple of months over here are Monomakhos. Like Blanche DuBois, we have “always relied upon the kindness of strangers.”
In time, we’ll write more about the travails we have undergone. But now, we want to write about you, the loyal readers who have supported us through your prayers, kind words and resources. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you.
A special shout-out must go out to Nick Stamatakis of Helleniscope. He was so kind to offer his site so we had a place for us to publish our stories. Eucharisto, Niko!
By this sign, conquer!
So now, Gail and I will get up off the floor, dust ourselves off, and continue fighting the good fight! And if you don’t mind, feel free to buy us a cup of coffee every now and then.
Onward!

GLAD YOU ARE BACK ! Monomakhos is the only site which rather much covers the entire landscape of American Orthodoxy, yet is free from the propoganda strings of the various Patriarchs, Satraps, Viziers, Fakirs, Phonies and Snake Oil Salesmen who work the Orthodox circuit. I cannot speak for others, but for me you help me figure out what the truth is. You call a spade a spade, and we all genuinely appreciate that. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !

Thank you for saying this.
There’s a story I heard a long time ago about Nordstrom, a high end department store. They had a one sentence mission statement and EVERY decision they had to make had to do with that statement: If it would increase customer satisfaction, then they did it. Should we have a piano player? Will it increase customer satisfaction? Yes. OK, then do it.. And so it went. They were very successful.
With Monomakhos, our mission statement probably comes down to 3 things: We educate, expose the bad to increase the good, and tell the truth.
However, sometimes it’s hard because there can be collateral damage. However, IMO, you have to do it anyway because what sort of effort is going to succeed if there is a bit of rottenness at its core? You can’t pull punches. Not for any reason. And we have to tell the WHOLE truth because that’s what Monomakhos does. We don’t want to know something you don’t know. We want us all to operate on a level playing field, even if some people don’t want to hear it. That’s the only way we can succeed.

I was typing Monomachos.com every day in my search bar until finally this site turned up with content. I was also checking Helleniscope just to see if there was any note about your long absence but I must have missed the note.
So glad you’re back and hope you always keep going!

I’m happy to see that you’re back. I missed you, and every day or two, I would check to see if you were posting again.
Gail Sheppard says
How reassuring is that?! That you would be looking for all of us. I will be telling you all why it took so long. It’s been a bit of intrigue. With villains and more importantly, heroes, who should get their due.

I almost never post here but am a very frequent reader and I was also checking frequently!
Thank you for coming back! 🙂
Gail Sheppard says
Thank you, wintergirl! Thank you for the encuragement.
Gail Sheppard says
Oh, how sweet! It feels so good to come home to those who are waiting for you.
Ronda Wintheiser says
I did check every day. It didn’t occur to me that you guys would miss US. 🙂
I wanted to share the interviews George did with you, Gail, with regard to Metropolitan Philip. Those interviews must be somewhere else, right? Or are they lost forever…?
Gail Sheppard says
You know, it isn’t. The way Back Machine has the post but not the file with the conversation. There is only one way to get all our data back and that is through Blue Host or OVH. They have to go back to a certain date and recreate it. So far, they are unwilling to do that.
Ronda Wintheiser says
Oh really.
Anything we could do to help them change their minds?
Gail Sheppard says
That’s a good question. Let’s think about that.
