Indeed we do. One that runs parallel to our current government structure.
Let me introduce you to USAF Lt Col (Ret) Dr. Sandy Miarecki, “a fired Instructor at United States Air Force Academy, who is “damn proud of it.”
In LinkedIn she writes: “My love of physics and heart-felt duty to mentor new Air Force officers was rudely interrupted when I was fired in Sep 2022 for fighting head-on against the illegal Covid mandates. My sole purpose in life now is to Stop Military Tyranny and ensure that all criminals in the US government, at every level, are brought to justice and reap the severe punishment that they richly deserve. . . ” She has a couple of lawsuits in the works in this regard.
Through her efforts in fighting military tyranny, she was introduced to several people who were actively at work restoring our republic, which became yet another passion of hers.
She recently sat down with one of my favorite interviewers, best known as “SG,” where she explains how our country ended up as a corporation.
She also explains, in layman terms, how our republic has been restored. It may surprise you to learn how their efforts are a lot further along than one would imagine and when the U.S. Corporation dies a natural death, which could be soon for a variety of reasons, they are ready, willing, and able to make the leap, as most of the preliminary work has been completed.
The most exciting news, however, is we, as in you and me, can hold seats in the republic during this transition. Find out how this is possible and then click the following link. https://members.republicfortheunitedstatesofamerica.org/contact
Sandy, as I think she prefers to be called, is an excellent communicator so I highly recommend listening to this even if you’re only mildly interested in the subject matter. It may get you interested. In any case, it’s always good to know where things are going if only to be prepared. We’re in store for a LOT of changes. Fortunately, good ones.

Not sure that republics are for the virtuous. Israel under the judges was ruled by chieftains, not as a republic. It was the centralization which annoyed God.
Yet after that, monarchies became the Israelite and Christian standard. Polyarchy and anarchy were rejected by the Fathers. But there is a “modern” manifestation of monarchy which pays lip service to “democracy” but rather operates as a constitutional monarchy (with teeth) of sorts. That is the dominant party model where one party is perpetually in charge, unified in a representational model reminiscent of clan and tribe affiliations you find in pre-Enlightenment societies. Leaders work their way to the top through prowess. Any lesser parties exist as watchdogs but outside of policy formation.
It is high time that America grew up and out of this bipolar fixation on the two party system which leads nowhere. It is “a house divided against itself.”

J.B. Shurk | “Why They Hate Trump”
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2024/10/why_they_hate_trump.html
‘ If you’re old enough to vote in the United States, then you’re old enough to remember a time when Americans of all political stripes liked Donald Trump. A public figure for most of his adult life, a businessman with a taste for luxury, and a showman who embodied the “American dream,” Trump appeared in television shows and movies because people enjoyed seeing him. For decades, he was an American icon with universal name recognition, a global brand, and even a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Then he moved into the political arena, and everything changed. Actors, musicians, and politicians who had once jumped at the chance to be photographed with him pretended they had never met. Writers and entertainers who had always praised him for his generosity began calling him filthy names. Television networks that had made boatloads of money from his goodwill with the public started slandering him as a “wannabe dictator,” a “Nazi,” and a “threat to democracy.”
What happened? Donald Trump dared to challenge the political status quo. By publicly questioning the economic and foreign policy decisions of the Establishment Class in Washington, D.C., he became an existential threat to a system that has long worked against the interests of the American people. As David Plouffe, one of Barack Obama’s closest advisers, inveighed before the 2016 presidential election: “It is not enough to beat Trump. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not be allowed to rise again.” …
… The administrative state is a criminal enterprise that harms Americans and enriches itself. President Trump wants to imprison the criminals and enrich Americans. That’s why the Establishment hates Trump and wants him destroyed. ‘
The whole article is brilliant – and accurate.
Michael Bauman says
Our “Republic” began disappearing the moment George Washington took office. It is and always has been a fantasy.
The last descent President we had was #6: John Quincy Adams. I took a deep dive into #7, Andrew Jackson (reading or at least pursuing everything I could including his collected “Messages and Papers” as President). He was a vicious tyrant in every way he could be despite Arthur Schlesinger’s hagiography of him during the Kennedy years.
You are living in a fantasy George.

I think Mearsheimer puts Doctorow’s argument in context,

It’s a useful paradigm explaining the actions of *some*

No more than that.

Illumined says
Do we have a republic? Not any more. That said, why do you pine for its loss when you’ve advocated for a monarchy? Have you changed your view?
Gail Sheppard says
Actually, we do. It runs simultaneously with our government. I’ve never pined for a monarchy, but if I did, what I pined for would not make the Republic for the United States of America any less real. Wishful thinking is not reality.
Look it up!
George Michalopulos says
Good question. As I wrote earlier, when Franklin said “we have a Republic, if you can keep it,” he was referring to citizens who were virtual and stakeholders in its maintainance. I still hold to that as being an ideal (as ancient Israel was before the institution of the monarchy).
That said, any type of constitutional republic dissolves when the people (who are not stakeholders) realize that they can vote themselves money from the public fisc.
Therein lies the problem: as an American citizen I firmly believe in constitutional principles which undergird republican governance. As an Orthodox Christian (and a student of history), I realize that this is ultimately a pipe-dream. At that point, when the republic becomes untenable, and oligarchy takes over, we have two choices if we want to overthrow the oligarchy: monarchy or tyranny. Obviously, I prefer monarchy.
That being said, I can’t see America as a constitutional monarchy.
So, are we screwed? Not necessarily. I see instead a third possibility. That would be the decentralization of centralized power onto the States, as per the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, which would resemble a regression of sorts to the original confederation of united States (as envisioned by our Founding Fathers).
I plan to write more about this in the near future. This may be inevitable, given that we have to borrow money to pay interest on the National Debt. That’s unsustainable.

I hate to say it but the John Birchers were right all along. It took 70 years and a lot of mockery (Think: Dr Strangelove) but the truth finally outed in the end.
As for “a Republic, if you can keep it,” I’ve been thinking about that response by Dr Franklin. And that is this: monarchies are the default position of government. Republics are only for a virtuous electorate. John Adams said it himself. He used the word “moral.”
We haven’t been moral since the birth control pill came on the scene. When Elvis Presley swiveled his hips it was all downhill from there. (I can’t believe I’m talking like this.)
Gail Sheppard says
Apparently, it’s been “kept.”
